Mindfulness is defined as “moment-to-moment non-judgmental awareness cultivated by paying attention”. But why is this so powerful in helping people shift from reactive habits and the distress of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and chronic pain? This presentation will provide an overview of the theory and research of mindfulness and its clinical value, with a focus on application to overeating and binge eating disorder, based on Dr. Kristeller’s many years of clinical trial research in this area.
